Natural History Museum

UI Design for exhibition promo and booking page

This project explored a promotional and booking-page concept for Colourful Creatures, a four-week interactive children’s exhibition at the Natural History Museum. The exhibition aimed to introduce young audiences to the science of colour in the natural world through games, virtual reality, and group activities.

The core challenge was to design a page that felt playful and inspiring for children while remaining clear, trustworthy, and efficient for adults purchasing tickets - particularly for a high-demand event with limited availability and special guest appearances by David Attenborough.

    • Led the end-to-end concept and visual direction for the promotional and booking page.

    • Defined the page hierarchy, user journey, and content structure.

    • Designed the ticket-booking interface, pricing layout, and supporting promotional offers.

    • Produced high-fidelity mockups, with responsive layouts for mobile and tablet to reflect real-world usage.

  • I balanced child-focused visual excitement with adult usability by pairing bold colour blocking and dynamic photography with a calm, structured layout. The visual language was designed to feel immersive without becoming overwhelming or confusing for parents.

Clear visual hierarchy was critical. Dates, time slots, pricing, and ticket types were structured to minimise friction and support fast decision-making during peak booking periods.

Photography was used as the primary storytelling device to bring the “colourful creatures” theme to life, while leaving space for future illustrative or interactive overlays as the exhibition evolved.

The limited David Attenborough appearances were given clear prominence to create urgency, but integrated carefully so they enhanced, rather than disrupted, the family-friendly tone.

  • The final design delivers a vibrant, engaging booking experience that appeals to children while remaining clear, credible, and easy to use for adults.

The concept demonstrates how exhibition-led storytelling can be combined with strong functional UX to support high-volume ticket sales without losing personality or accessibility.

The result is a scalable, responsive page template that could be adapted for future Natural History Museum exhibitions within the wider digital ecosystem.
